Latrine Project - Binshua, Cameroon

April 23, 2022

In 2021 club Member Samba Tata started to build a coalition between our club, Christiana Rotary, Newark Morning Club, Rotary District 7630 and his non-profit Empowering Solutions to build new bathrooms for a local school. The existing bathroom building was unstable and not functioning. Thru the work of the clubs together, we were able to secure funding and a matching grant to build an updated bathroom. Local workers are building the project. The bricks are being made by a machine that was made by a local man. The concrete for the slab was mixed and poured by hand. The stall doors will be made by local carpenters with lumber from the area. The roof will have a rain catchment system so that the water can be used for handwashing. The bathrooms will serve the students and teachers for the St. Joseph's Primary School.
